If your anything like me, you see girls with amazing make-up and I’m just left thinking for me to look like that I would need a glam squad rivaling the Kardashians!
I have never been big on make-up and beauty, growing up I was far to busy with netball and being outside. However the one thing I have always been super conscious of is my skin. Growing up in Australia you are so bombarded by images of skin cancer and the aging effect the sun can have. I think I started wearing age defying cream at about 13!
Fast forward to 2017, I’m 29 and life couldn’t be busier! I mean it probably could but you get it I’m busy! My poor skin sees a makeup wipe on an evening and a quick layer of moisturiser in the morning which isn’t really cutting it.
I have really sensitive skin, after washing my face I will be red and my skin literally feels like it’s going to split open. I have always had pigmentation spots and they go very dry and crusty. I’m painting you a beautiful picture I know!
Luckily for me I was invited to the Spring Skin event hosted by The Body Shop at Lakeside Village in Doncaster. I love The Body Shop! As a kid it was my sole source of smellies, I always felt really grown up wearing there essential oils as perfume and I remember thinking my older sister was so dam cool and a bit of a rebel because she has the Hemp hand cream! Also on a random side note my first ever Valentine bought me the Satsuma gift set which I still buy to this day!
So onto what went down on Thursday night! Charlotte the resident skin care expert removed my make-up and found the perfect cleanser, toner and moisturiser for my skin. She used the Aloe products which were really gentle on my skin and added the Vitamin E Aqua Boost Essence Lotion as well which really soothed my sensitivity. It is the first time in a long time that my skin has felt soft and not tight and irratable afterwards.
Once my skin was beautiful and soft Kerry the lovely manager at the store matched my foundation. I have never had my foundation matched and it was amazing! She tried a few differnet colours on my jaw line and then it happened, Bali Vanilla Fresh Nude literally vanished, it was the perfect match! I don’t wear a lot of make-up and have gernerally worn a mineral powder so I was pleasently surprised at how light and dewy the finish was.
After having my dewy look done we were lucky enough to have a hand exfoliation and moisturing treatment with Cheryl. I of course chose the Satsuma which just instantly transports me back to my teens!
I feel like I’ve come away with a better understanding of my skin and what it needs (shit loads more water!). If you are local to the Doncaster area it is definintley worth while calling in and seeing The Body Shop team at Lakeside Outlet, they are so lovely and helpful and you can save an absollute fortune! The more you buy the bigger dicount you get!
A big thank you to Charlotte, Kerry and Cheryl for having me, it was a super chilled way to spend a Thursday night and celebrate Springs arrival! Four days in to my new routine and my skin has never felt so good!
